Etios Cross

Wrapup

It's a Liva with a body kit, but surprisingly it looks better than Liva or even the well proportioned Etios. The higher price is difficult to justify over Liva, but still the Etios Cross does manage to find a new homes consistently.

Quick Review

Right after the introduction of compact SUVs in our country, there came a wave of crossovers. Not building a complete new car from scratch, car manufacturers such as Toyota played smart by presenting their hatch offering on steroids that beefs up the entire stance and as a result Etios Cross was born. Based on the likes of Etios Liva, this compact crossover was introduced in 2014 and it did manage to clock decent sales numbers for buyers looking at something more from a plain old hatch. Everything on the exterior seems new and different from its sibling Liva, with aggressive creases on the bonnet that runs onto a sliver plated nudge guard. The angular headlamps seems a perfect fit with the stylish and aggressive grille guard that encapsulates the all black front grille that houses the Toyota badge. Wrapped around in an entire black cladding from the front onto the sides and rear, even the sporty fog lamps on the the front bumper seems a perfect fit for this cross. The rugged appeal at the facade is complete by a front skid plate that gives the Etios Cross a go-anywhere look. However, its enlarged cladding on the wheel arches at the side along with a side skid plate as well, seems to be a little over done but then this is what buyers majorly like about the Etios Cross with its over the top dressing. Chunky roof rails and diamond cut 15 inch alloy wheels adds a finesse to its overall appeal. Complimenting its raised stance, is the more than generous 175 mm ground clearance on offer that makes it a little taller than rival hatchbacks. Step onto the rear and you will find it as flashy as the front with a wide tail mounted spoiler and Etios Cross badging on the black cladding that surrounds this crossover. Tail lights remain the same as Liva but the stylish rear skid plate housing does make it distinct even from the back. Availability of flashy colors further makes its case strong as a unique offering in the compact crossover segment.
