Tiago

Wrapup

Tiago is a product displaying how far ahead Tata has moved. Overall well finished, built well and has good space for the segment. Could be a game changer but the post sales and service experience has to be looked into. A value for money product that can revive the brand.

Quick Review

Its journey began with the Tata Kite project as the engineers from Tata worked to develop a city hatchback which is urban yet reliable and most importantly distinct from the Tata’s lineage so far. Tiago is surely one of the best designs to have come out from the Tata’s stable. It seems to have covered up for everything where the Bolt fell short. Shedding away Indica’s design cues, Tiago offers a very refreshing look on the outside with a wide chrome lined hexagonal front grille which houses the Tata logo at the centre. Its curved sweptback headlamps make for a complete European appeal. Opting for a much larger air dam with black slat and oval chrome inserts for fog lamps at the front makes Tiago an attractive hatch. The designers clearly meant business with its design and it is evident with its sharp belt line which begins from the tail lamps and continues till the front quarter panel. On to the back, its curved taillights look very much in sync with the headlamp cluster and offer Tiago a unique appeal even from the rear. Tata has also jazzed up this new offering with smart finishes such as black inserts on the corners of the rear spoiler, an all black panel on the rear bumper to make it sporty and you also get all-black pillars. Technology also boosts Tiago’s exterior with the presence of electric ORVM with turn indicators and also a rear wiper washer and a stylish defogger.
