Bolt

Wrapup

Another underrated car, Bolt has everything that should have made it a success. A higher price tag than market expectations is one of the reasons. There's nothing particularly wrong with the product as the ride and handling are quite good, cabin is spacious and built is strong as well. Tata's fit and finish have taken a huge, huge step forward which is evident in Bolt.

Quick Review

Right after its debut in the Indian Auto Expo 2014, Bolt from this home grown brand did make a lot of headlines with its unique styling and offerings. On the flesh, it does somehow reminds you of the Indica badge with design cues borrowed from that ever popular hatch especially among commercial car users. But what Tata did manage to achieve with the Bolt is giving it a new character with all modern day razzmatazz so the car appeals more to the urban audience and not mainly to the Taxi runners in the country. Look closely and you can clearly see a new hatch DNA within the Bolt that is quite modern. The V styled slanting creases of the bonnet runs onto the chrome bar at the front grille, which does remind you of its Vista sibling. Other than that, the signature Tata grille with honeycomb mesh inserts and piano black finish looks distinct and stunning on the outside. This new hatch also sports modern day cosmetics with projector headlamp insert onto its sweptback smoked headlights that makes it look more aggressive and sporty. Opting for stylish all black fog lamp housing on the front bumper along with its all black air dam fins at the centre completes its sporty facade. Move onto the side and one can see some fine belt and shoulder lines highlighted to showcase its length however, the roofline remains quite similar to its old hatch sibling. To increase its aesthetic appeal, Tata motors has also appointed stylish eight spoke 15 inch alloy wheels that are quite pleasing to the eye and also offer better driving dynamics. Chrome inserts on the window lines and turn indicators on the ORVMs makes for an upmarket appeal. The rear of this hatch appears quite practical with a big rear windscreen that offers clear view onto the back. Neat stylish inserts such as a thick chrome bar on the tail gate and ‘flame’ inspired wraparound taillights gives it a unique overall appeal. Addition of a rear spoiler, centrally placed reflector and also rear wiper with washer makes it feature loaded within the segment.
