Rapid

Wrapup

Spacious midsize sedan with strong engines and mature dynamics. The top variants are pricey and few gizmos might be missed. After Sales and Service network is undergoing a positive change, and the car's build is reassuring. Current finance schemes make it a very attractive deal.

Quick Review

Black seems to be the new fad these days and automakers are not shying away in adopting this solid theme in every way possible. Part of the German auto giant VW Group, Skoda seems to be reinventing its image from a safe and reliable brand to a more hep and cool brand when it comes to enticing Indian buyers. This seems very evident with the latest generation of Skoda Rapid, the mid sized sedan, which now looks quite unique and seems to have shed the identity crisis within the Skoda group of cars. Opting for a complete black grille does make its facade debatable while some might find it sporty and dynamic others might not find it Skoda like sophisticated. The stylish twin creases running along the bonnet makes way for the Skoda logo at the centre which feels a part of the all black arrangement. An all black headlamp cluster with projector headlamps does make it look agile but it somehow reduces the wide appeal of its stance. The front bumper with wide air dams does bring some elements of sophistication in the Rapid. The bold character line running on to the shoulders till the tail lamps speaks for its European design while the all black roof, turn indicators and even the custom alloy wheels feels quite in place. The side decals however seems to be overdone which might not please all types of age group. Thanks to parting ways with the design philosophy of its sibling VW Vento, the C-shape tail lamps now offer a distinct look to this mid sized sedan.
