Duster

Wrapup

Good accomplished mid-SUV, has good diesel engines. Decently spacious cabin with boot space though premium feel is missing. Safety and features have improved. Refreshed recently, it's now available with a well tuned AMT, looks smarter and gave Duster a few more competitive years.

Quick Review

Back in 2012, a one of a kind car entered Indian shores which created nothing less than a storm in the Indian automobile market. The most surprising element was that it was not produced by a home grown brand or even the popular Japanese or South Korean manufacturer, but it came from a French car manufacturer which was contemplating its stay in India. Tides turned quickly and the Renault duster created its own segment as India’s leading compact SUV which further strengthened Renault’s stay in the country. Since that day and till now, Duster has been their flagship model. During its journey till now, this compact SUV has received a fair amount of cosmetic upgrades and tweaks to entice Indian audiences. The current generation Duster endorses a smoked black appeal on the outside with its blackened double barrel headlamps that now looks quite distinct. Its stretched bonnet with very fine U shaped creases are still very elegant and simple to look at. The rectangular housing at the front sports a thick three chrome slat grille with Renault logo at the centre which does offer a proper old school SUV look. A nudge guard styled black cladding and skid plates at the front raises its stance, while the small foglamps on the corner offers a sporty look to this compact SUV. On the side is where Duster gets its long SUV looks with extended wheel arches and some fine character lines on its belt and on the rear quarter panel. What further enhances its SUV looks is the appointment of a side foot step, aggressive 16 inch anthracite alloy wheels and chunky roof rails which helps in increasing its overall height. Coming onto the rear, its vertical taillight cluster and hunkered down rear windscreen offers a very clear view onto the back. The SUV charm continues with a rear skid plate and a big tailgate which houses a chrome bar at the centre for an upmarket SUV look.
