Elite i20

Wrapup

Elite i20 has moved the game further ahead in the premium hatchback segment again. Facing stiff competition from Maruti Suzuki Baleno, it still holds a its own pretty well. Fit and finish, NVH levels are top notch and so is the interior quality. Rear head-room suffers due to sloping roof and ride is a bit unsettled over any surface. That said, the 1.4 diesel is the pick of the lot.

Quick Review

Elegance can be the apt word for the the latest Elite i20 which stands correct to its new name and has gone through an impressive transformation from its previous avatar winning many accolades which also includes the illustrious Car of the Year award. Elite as its name, this new premium hatch offering from Hyundai is a stunner from every angle which is evident in its sales and popularity among Indian premium hatch buyers. The styling remains quite subtle yet fludic as Hyundai likes it with fine character lines that now run onto a stretched bonnet, compared to its predecessor, finishing just before the front grille. Its striking facade can be credited to its large hexagonal front grille with a chrome outline and the Hyundai logo which sits at the top of the grille onto a meshed grille line which connects its chunky headlamps. The wrapped around lights offers a distinct identity to this premium hatch with raised eyebrow line that runs parallel to the bonnet. Its sports identity comes from wide airdams and a sporty front bumper that also houses rectangular fog lamps for better aesthetics. Its stylish identity continuous on to the side as well with a thick blackened C Pillar that appears quite sporty along with side moldings that compliments its deep shoulder lines which runs end to end from the tail lights on to the headlamp cluster giving it a longer stance. Riding on huge 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, Hyundai has surely packed this hatchback with all the modern day razzmatazz. The style quotient doesn’t end here, infact its most stunning appeal comes form the rear itself with Alfo Romeo inspired swept back tail lights that are stunning to look at especially in the dark. Completing its sports identity are reflectors mounted on to the rear bumper and a black finish cladding that highlights its urban appeal. As its a Hyundai, features come in plenty! So is the case on the outside with added features such as electrically folding ORVMs with turn indicators, a rear wiper and washer with defogger and automatic headlamps as well.
