Abarth Punto

Wrapup

Car built for no ordinary crowd, the strips on its metal body, the Abarth badge on its chest with those alloy wheels is just eye catching. The best part is under its skin that 1.4 turbo charged petrol engine churning out monstrous 145bhp of power coupled with 5 speed manual is just too good. Ride and handling doesn't let engine power go waste and nicely put to gather.

Quick Review

What happens when you put a beast of an engine under the hood of a hatchback and throw some striking racing vinyls on it? Well, what you get is the Fiat Punto Abarth. This is probably the first ever hatchback introduced in our country which can be termed as a proper hot hatch! On the outside, it uses the same structural design from the Fiat Punto Evo, but that is only where the similarity ends. This hot hatch has sports written all over it with its loud design. At the design front, its slanting bonnet with sculpted creases at the corner runs onto the chrome finished front grille. Blackened grille along with large air dam onto the front bumper is well complimented by the sporty red fog lamp casing that makes it avatar quite bold at the front. The scorpion logo (Which is of Fiat’s performance arm Abarth) sits right at the top of the front grille onto the bonnet and that is where its ever so stylish red racing strips begin which runs all the way onto the back. To make things more loud and aggressive, Fiat has even placed a scorpion decal (optional) right at the top of the roof, which is a little dramatic but then its India’s fastest affordable hot hatch we are talking about. Available in only two color options, white and black, red color decals and strips comes complementary with this Fiat’s performance hatch. Move on to the side and you will find more of red, which now runs just above the side skirts with big ‘Abarth’ letters embossed in case you have missed out on its name, which is mostly impossible. A bold shoulder line runs onto its side similar to its tamed sibling the Punto Evo, while complete red side mirrors makes it distinct. Another highlight of the Abarth badge is the addition of massive 16 inch scorpion designed alloy wheels which runs on fatter tyres (195/55 R16) that helps keeping this beast planted even on rough Indian roads. The rear also is as dynamic as other profiles of this hot hatch. The red racing strip ends onto the rear bumper while Fiat flaunts the Abarth batch on the tailgate as well. Its high mounted vertical tail lights are similar as the Punto Evo, while the rear fog lamps and a well built rear bumper completes its overall sports identity.
