Cruze

Wrapup

When introduced, Cruze was an instant success. But now, its shortcoming and asking price make is a bit less value for money proposition. The engine has improved, and is backed by Chevy's service and warranty packages. Apart from the strong engine, the cabin space is less than its competitors, specially the rear seat space. Now it feels long in the tooth.

Quick Review

With more than six years on the Indian roads, Chevy’s Cruze has been ‘cruising’ around for a long time now on the Indian streets. The good news is, the current Cruze is soon to get a complete makeover with fresh styling cues and probably a new heart under its hood in later 2016. But not all is wrong with its current generation as well, with its bold and masculine looks, Chevrolet does seem to rely heavily on this entry level compact luxury sedan. What really sets it apart, is the coupe styled design with highlighted character lines that doesn’t make it sleek and lean but infact makes its stance more aggressive. Its wide rectangular, samurai inspired, headlight cluster fits perfectly on to the Chevrolet’s signature twin pod grille which houses the Chevy bow-tie logo. The raised bonnet with depth creases on the corners generates confidence. What completes its facade are the triangular fog-lamp cluster with a hint of chrome which in between houses a wide air-dam split horizontally by a chunky body colored slat. Its sloping roof-line, which also houses an electric sunroof, creates a sporty appeal which is met with a sharp creased boot lid. The split tail-lamp architecture are swept back on to the side which smoothly runs fine character lines that goes all the way to the front fender making the Cruze more sharper in its appeal. Riding on 16 inch wheels, Cruze definitely is a looker from all angles. Owing to its distinct dynamics, this compact luxury sedan has managed to mark its own path in a segment where competition is going to get stiffer.
