A market leader for a long time, Maruti is known to provide hassle free car ownership acorss a wide range, has earned reputation of efficient, value oriented manufacturer. Peace of mind and vast sevrice network are added benefits although it falls behind gadgetry offering.

Maruti Suzuki is numero uno in Indian market since late 1980's. Started by Sanjay Gandhi with a dream in his mind, Maruti is the manufacturer that has put India on wheels, literally. The first product to roll out of its assembly line was the 800, a car which is to us what VW Beetle is to Germany and Europe, changed fortunes of Indian car industry forever. Omni, better known as 'Van' was launched along with the 800, and is on sale in India to this date. Be it ease of use or excellent long term reliability, Maruti quickly became the undisputed sales king in India, and never looked back. After the launch of Zen in 1993 till the actual economic liberalization era nearing late 1990's, it was regarded as the best hatchback that any Indian could buy. Products like Esteem, Zen, Wagon R helped Maruti further widen the gap and establish itself in minds of Indian consumers. There were a few tough times when competition was rising, but they bounced back with models like Alto and in 2005, stormed the Indian market with Swift. Smart enough to understand the need for diesel engines, Maruti's parent Suzuki quickly made a deal with Fiat for its diesel engine in 2007. This helped it get an edge over others, which to this date makes its presence felt. Maruti became larger than its parent, Suzuki in terms of sales numbers which is a huge achievement, especially considering presence of almost all major manufacturers in India. Subsequent launches like Swift Dzire, Ertiga, Alto K10, Celerio were clear indicators firming Suzuki's plan to enhance its dominance in India. Maruti is a name Indians associate with reliability, fuel efficiency, easy of maintenance and low ownership cost coupled with excellent resale. The brand revolutionized how we think about cars in India, and has managed to offer one of the best service quality and customer satisfactions despite huge numbers. They offer some of the best value for money products over a wide range and with a complete peace-of-mind ownership experience. Currently commands around 48% market share in India. If latest products, namely S-Cross and Baleno, are anything to go by, Maruti Suzuki is going all out in ensuring that it remains No. 1 manufacturer in India.
